Why are we here?
Glastonbury is the largest Greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. Over half a million people from all walks of life attend every year. The majority of festivalgoers are young with an interest in politics and the role of trade unions, which is where Unite comes in.
Unite is based in The Leftfield site throughout the weekend. This is where all the political debates and music take place. This is a fantastic place to recruit young members and get our campaigning message across to people who really want to listen.
The Leftfield is run by the Battersea and Wandsworth TUC so is owned by the trade union movement. Its core promotion is international workers solidarity. The Leftfield aims to reaffirm the spirit of political debate among festivalgoers, promoting the value of trade union membership and collective campaigning.
It is a perfect environment for Unite to spread the campaigning message and get people involved in trade unionism.
We get around!
